You could not be a bigger nerd, and, sir, I salute you.

Wow and I thought I wasted too much time reading Cricinfo.

The Sophist

Congratulations! This post has brought to mind not just one, but two, two! of the funniest moments in comedy history.
First of all - is not Monty Python's "Philosopher Soccer" (a team of Greeks and a team of Germans wander around philosophizing until Archimedes gets the bright idea of actually kicking the ball...) the greatest comedy sketch ever, just for John Cleese's perfect send-up of a BBC soccer commentator ("Beckenbauer - a bit of a surprise selection there.')

Secondly, in The Funniest Movie of All Time (This is Spinal Tap) Nigel is listening to books on tape read by "famous people with (the author's) same last name" which includes "...selected works of Washington Irving read by somebody called Dr. J".

No Taylors?

Tony - good point! I forgot about Bob Taylor to keep wicket; didn't select Mark Taylor on the grounds that slater and Merchant were better players.
